1940 Jaeger LeCoultre Weems 6B/159
Description:
The Weems watches are one of the most unusual watches to have come out of World War II. Developed initially for the American Air Forces, the RAF took interest and purchased various branded Weems watches in 1940 and were to be marked 6B/159. There are multiple variations of the Jaeger LeCoultre Weems as some have steriale dials and other have LeCoultre printed, the watches were supplied to both the USAAF and the RAF. These watches were produced in small quantities making them very collectible for military watch enthusiasts . The watch is iconic with a rotating bezel and two crowns. The crown at 3 o’clock winds the watch as normal and the crown at 4 o’clock locks in the bezel when screwed in. The watch is not perfect as it bears the scars of time but this is part of the charm for military pieces. The watch is housing the Jaeger Lecoultre Cal 450 manual wind movement. For those looking for something out of the ordinary while still having historical significance from the war, this is a fantastic piece to add to your collection.
Dial:
The dial has aged to a yellow white in color. The hour markers are printed numerals around the dial, all in black except 12 o’clock which is printed in red. The Hour, Minute and Seconds hands are all blued. There is a minute track printed around the circumference of the dial.
