WWII Tutima Glashutte Luftwaffe Chronograph
Description:
During WWII timing is everything, it could mean life or death, winning the battle or losing it, making watches one of the most valuable assets a soldier could have. Watches with chronograph functions were extremely useful for soldier and especially pilots as you were able to calculate distance and timing of different tasks. The Germans used Tutima Glashutte Luftwaffe Chronographs which aided in pilots being able to drop bombs in different intervals. The watch was specially designed to be used while the pilot was wearing gloves which explains the large pushers and crowns. The watches originally plated over the brass case and came with a rotating bezel, unfortunately this watch no longer has it and we’ve tried to price it accordingly. Tutima, the company that manufactured the watches, used Urofa 59 movements, which in my personal opinion, are fantastic. Unfortunately during the war the factory was destroyed and with it most of the parts. For having been through war, the watch is in pretty good condition. If you’re after something from WWII but want something a little more complex than a dirty dozen, then this is a watch to consider.
